Uzbekistan in Winter

There is a version of Uzbekistan that most travellers never see. In December, the tour buses are gone. The great monuments stand in crystalline winter light, their turquoise domes bright against slate-grey skies. The bazaars belong to locals again, filled with the scent of roasting chestnuts and freshly baked bread pulled from clay ovens. The artisans in their workshops have time to talk, to demonstrate, to share tea and stories. This is the Uzbekistan we want to show you. We are not a tour company that arrived here last year with a guidebook. We were born here. We grew up walking these streets, eating this bread, speaking these languages. The ceramicists of Rishtan are our neighbours. The silk weavers of Margilan taught our grandmothers. The families who will welcome you to their tables are our relatives, our friends, our community. This journey is different because it is real. You will not observe Uzbekistan from behind bus windows. You will sit in kitchens and learn to cook plov. You will hear stories that no museum can tell you. You will meet professors, entrepreneurs, working mothers, bakers – ordinary people living extraordinary lives in one of the world's oldest crossroads. And then there is Christmas. Imagine spending Christmas Day hiking through rolling countryside, visiting small village communities, and sitting down to a long, festive dinner under the stars – surrounded by nature, warmth, and new friends. This is something you will remember for the rest of your life.
